Death Gas Station is an original figure series between Damtoys and Coal Dog in 1/12 scale.
About Homeless Joe :As for Joe, the world is covering in gray. Ever since aliens captured Joe’s family, he got away from the crowd to observe the sky and extinct volcanoes. No one knows exactly how long Joe was in the wilderness, he changed, became loving life, and looking forward to the end of the world, expecting an end to give himself an answer passively. He likes to sit in the tent and soliloquize oddly, listening to his shabby no-signal radio with the rustle sound current or just lying down in the tent floor scribbling.
I always wanted to create a character close to nature while I was traveling to some rural places. I came up with the name Joe, but with no image in my mind. Till one day, I saw my friend’s motorcycle engine cylinder head when we were on our road break. "That is where my old man Joe been hiding!", I thought. So I started the character design when I got home.
Joe, inspired by a motorcycle engine(Moto guzi), was born. His head has two action spots, which realize the dynamic of the old man's hunchback while avoiding the dynamic occlusion caused by the beard, and the mobility is further enhanced.
The biggest difficulty in this character design is the tent. I have always wanted to make a tent that is more like a BC-style shelter. At first, I tried a lot of solutions, from the hard material at the beginning to the individually designed cloth material for the frame, which could not well restore the texture and the shape of the shelter tent.
The final selected tent shape was based on Joe’s original structure design. From the initial pattern design to the later skeleton material test, we finally nailed it with a relatively satisfying finished product. In the end, Joe got a triangular tent that was easy to maintain and also allows players to open up the tent easily outdoors.
Well, here is part of the story about Joe's creation. Very glad to share it with you guys.
