Coaldog’s Dog 5th Anniversary Woof!
Five years have passed in the blink of an eye.
I remember when I first established Coaldog– it was to escape the monotony of commercial work. But soon I realized that making something fun and simple is far from easy, and so I’ve stumbled through the past five years.
For this anniversary product, we’ve returned to the roots. Some of you who received it early at the 2024 WF exhibition may have already noticed that the back of the hang tag features a collection of Coaldog’s past illustrations. The front background depicts the factory where I played as a child, and there’s also the train drawn by a homeless man I once saw. Honestly, I often mix up whether what I’m making is a product or artwork, but whatever it is, I want it to retain a fun and open attitude. Everything I find interesting is packed into this hang tag to share with all of you.
Over the years, my peers have complained about increasingly difficult production environments, but I think the real challenge is in today’s fast-paced world, where you’re still willing to wait for several quarters to receive a toy you love. I’m deeply grateful for your support over these five years. Of course, I also want to thank everyone who has helped us along the way—the former and current team members, every worker on the production line. Thank you.
